Alex Katz

Alex Katz (born 1927) is an American painter born in Brooklyn and one of the great figures of American figurative art. Since the 1950s he has painted flat, cool, boldly coloured portraits and landscapes, often of his wife and muse Ada, in a crisp style that anticipated and paralleled Pop Art.

Third Drawer Down carries the artist's work into the home. Founded in Melbourne in 2003, it partners with artists, estates and museums to translate original works into homeware and gifts — tea towels, ceramics, textiles and objects — produced with care for artistic integrity and made for everyday use.
