David Salle

David Salle, born in 1952, is an American painter who rose to prominence in New York in the 1980s. Associated with the Pictures Generation, he is known for layered, collage-like canvases that juxtapose images drawn from art history, advertising and popular culture, and he is also an acclaimed writer on art.
