Two Works Series, Vol. 5. This volume presents Leo Bersani's influential essay critiquing assimilationist trends within queer activism. Originally delivered at the Centre Pompidou in 1997, Bersani argues that "gays melt into the very culture they like to think of themselves as undermining," advocating a disruptive homosexuality grounded in antimonogamous promiscuity rather than bourgeois respectability.

British artists Hannah Quinlan and Rosie Hastings respond some twenty years later through three acts of visual work — drawings, sketches and egg tempera paintings — exploring everyday homosocial spaces and queer cultural politics. A series of statuesque figures are caught as they feel the outlines of existing power structures, try out new strategies of inclusivity and, ultimately, wrestle with the blurred lineaments of identity and community.
