About the artwork: Following on from the ‘Great American Nude’ series, Wesselmann focused back on isolating forms – as seen in his mouth series – to create a more intimate and closer up exploration of the nude in his ‘Bedroom Painting’ series. Pieces of the human body, a foot in this work, are places alongside items found in the bedroom, so flowers, a blanket and an orange in this work.
