SPECIAL EDITION OF PRINTS EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE AT CULTUREEDIT
MARCH 19 - JUNE 18 2021
CULTUREEDIT is proud to present the installment of our second online show with Bruce LaBruce titled “Death” in tandem with the inaugural exhibition at our new shop-by-appointment space in Hollywood. This show is the manifestation of Bruce LaBruce’s rarely published extreme photography works over the past 20 years from his film production stills and live art performances.
LaBruce’s work portrays theatrical expressions of gore, sex, lust, and torture in what he describes as a “playful environment” to explore humanity, sexuality, and our relationship to Death. With this collection of images, LaBruce interprets how Death has become a spectacle of entertainment and profit in Western society and the Digital Age. Over 100 prints are on view online and available for purchase as an exclusive and limited edition offering by CULTUREEDIT, along with 9 unique special edition large-scale prints installed in the gallery space that have been shot at with real bullets.
Two sterling silver rings - DEATH and SKULL - designed by Bruce LaBruce and Jonathan Johnson, have been made in conjunction with this exhibition and are exclusively available on CULTUREEDIT.
Bruce LaBruce: Death is organized by Harrison Kallner. A very special thanks to Matthew Holroyd, founder of Baron Books, for editing & publishing Bruce LaBruce’s Death Book. Also thank you to Steve Halterman for his help in amplifying the gallery show by shooting the 9 unique prints with his gun in Joshua Tree. The online exhibition will be live for three months while the gallery installation will be on view for six weeks in Hollywood.
