MILES STEWART: LIAISONS

Liaisons is a collection of images from my ongoing series exploring male intimacy. Working across digital, 35mm, and disposable cameras, the project moves through a range of quiet and raw encounters between the camera and its subjects.

Framed through extreme close-ups, candid moments, and composed portraits, the men featured include both those I found online and professional OnlyFans creators and adult performers. Together, the work reflects the many forms of intimacy, whether alone or with another.

In 2020, during a period of global isolation and limited physical contact, I was inspired by artists such as Clifton Mooney, Spyros Rennt, and Florian Hetz, and turned to photographing male subjects as a way of navigating the absence of touch.

I created the name Miles Stewart as an alter ego, one that allows me the freedom to make work I might not have had the confidence to create under my own name. It reconnects me to my formative years of secret curiosity, now explored freely and without fear, giving the series the feeling of photographs found hidden beneath a college roommate’s bed.

Miles Stewart is based in Los Angeles and is the founder of Wood Studio, a photography studio and creative space in Downtown Los Angeles dedicated to gay male art and culture.
