Wicked is the musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel, that reimagines the witches of Oz as unlikely friends. Since opening on Broadway in 2003 with songs including Defying Gravity and Popular, it has become one of the most successful musicals in history, and the film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande followed in 2024.
