“Bottoms” considers ways the anthropomorphic posture and specific gravity of hunting and fishing waders allow the gear to take on lives of their own in repose. When photographed for online resale, these used waders become fantasies camouflaged as bargains for the outdoorsman. All photographs from Facebook Marketplace, sellers in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, 2024.
About Kyle Brazzel
Kyle Brazzel is a Brooklyn-based artist who makes artist's books and ephemera with a deadpan sense of humour. Bottoms, self-published in 2024, gathers photographs of used hunting and fishing waders listed for resale on Facebook Marketplace by sellers in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, where the empty gear takes on strangely human, surreal forms.
