When it comes to cleaning and maintaining leather gear, LeatherDaddy Castile Liquid Soap is an all-in-one powerhouse that keeps your pieces fresh, conditioned, and long-lasting. Because it’s vegetable oil-based and free of harsh detergents, it won’t dry out or damage your leather like traditional soaps or alcohol-based cleaners. Here’s how to clean different types of leather gear properly:

For Harnesses, Armbands, Straps, and Collars

• Mix a few pumps of Castile Soap with warm water in a bowl.
• Dip a soft cloth into the mixture and gently wipe down the leather, focusing on any areas with sweat, lube, or dirt buildup.
• Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe away any soap residue.
• Let air dry completely before conditioning with a leather balm or oil.

2. CLEANING YOUR LEATHER JOCK, CHAPS, OR PANTS

Because sweat and body oils can break down leather over time, regular cleaning keeps it supple and wearable.

• Spot clean: Dampen a soft cloth with a diluted Castile Soap solution (1 part soap, 5 parts water) and wipe down affected areas.
• For deeper cleaning: Lightly dampen the leather with a clean cloth, apply a tiny bit of Castile Soap directly to your hands, and gently rub over the leather.
• Wipe away any soap residue with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.
• Once dry, apply a light layer of leather conditioner to maintain flexibility.

What NOT to do: Never soak leather in water or scrub aggressively—this can dry it out and cause cracks.

3. CLEANING LEATHER BOOTS, GLOVES & HATS

For Leather Boots & Gloves

• Mix a teaspoon of Castile Soap with a cup of warm water.
• Use a soft brush or cloth to scrub away dirt, especially around seams and creases.
• Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft towel.
• Once fully dry, buff with leather conditioner or polish.

For Leather Caps & Hats

• Use a lightly dampened cloth with diluted Castile Soap to gently wipe the surface.
• Avoid getting the inside liner too wet—use a dry cloth to blot excess moisture.
• Let air dry and apply a light leather protector if needed.

 4. LEATHER FURNITURE & PLAYROOM SURFACES

For Leather Sofas, Chairs & Dungeon Benches

• Mix 1-2 tablespoons of Castile Soap with a quart of warm water.
• Dampen a microfiber cloth in the solution and wipe down the leather.
• Follow with a clean, dry cloth to remove any excess moisture.
• Condition periodically to keep the leather supple.

 5. CLEANING LATEX, RUBBER & SYNTHETIC GEAR

Not just for leather—Castile Soap works great on non-porous fetish wear too!

• For latex & rubber: Mix a small amount of Castile Soap with water, wipe down the surface, rinse with clean water, and towel dry. Spot test before use.
• For neoprene or coated materials: Use a mild Castile Soap solution and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Spot test before use.

BONUS: CLEANING YOUR LEATHER TOYS & BDSM EQUIPMENT

For Paddle, Floggers & Restraints

• Use a damp cloth with diluted Castile Soap to wipe down handles and straps. Spot test before use.
• Avoid over-wetting suede or unfinished leather—clean gently and dry completely.

For Metal Buckles & D-Rings

• Wipe metal parts with a damp cloth and Castile Soap to remove sweat or oxidation.
• Dry thoroughly to prevent rusting or discoloration.

Always dry leather at room temperature—never use a heater, hairdryer, or direct sunlight.
Sweat and body oils break down leather over time, so regular cleaning keeps it in peak shape.
Conditioning is key—clean leather needs occasional hydration with a leather balm or oil.
