About the artwork: Robert Indiana’s image LOVE belongs to his most well-known series of artworks and is widely recognized as an icon of Twentieth Century contemporary art. Robert Indiana (1928–2018) was an American Pop artist celebrated for his bold, emblematic use of words and numbers. Born in New Castle, Indiana, he created his famous LOVE design in the 1960s, with its stacked letters and tilted O. Reproduced as sculptures, prints and a US postage stamp, it became one of the most recognised images in modern art.
