I wanted to capture the vibrant airbrushed aesthetic of 1980s artwork through the rendering of the subject, which was inspired by a reference photograph I took of myself. To complement the illustration, I incorporated a photograph I captured during a trip to Joshua Tree in 2021 as the background. By combining illustration with photography, I wanted to create a piece that blends nostalgia with a more contemporary, mixed-media approach.
