Aaron Krach , Sottsass Showers
Details
Italian design-icon Ettore Sottsass made his sexiest ceramics during the 1960s and 70. The vases and pots are glossy and bulging with curves just like the men in Physique Pictorial, the 1950s beefcake catalog. In each issue, one model posed in an open shower, often smiling, or even laughing. The cheeky shots mix humor and sex in a way that is very similar to Sottsass, daring the viewer to smile and be turned on. Here, both bodies-of-work are combined interwoven, and overprinted on a mix of paper and vellum. The result is an erotic mash-up that speaks to the idiosyncratic ways desire can expresses itself. Featuring interviews with Billy Miller from Straight to Hell, and Benjamin Tischer, director of New Discretions gallery.
