CULTUREEDIT ART AUCTION #8
Darren Greenblatt
Darren’s multidisciplinary work, which includes painting, illustration, photography and three-dimensional work, is informed by the whimsical majesty of nature and his evocative love/hate relationship with fashion. This is influenced by Darren’s career deeply immersed in the fashion industry. Working across - and often combining - different media, Darren’s paintings on canvases use French acrylics, some featuring his illustrations, Hermès and Gucci wallpapers, and vintage magazines like Andy Warhol’s Interview and Flair - the influential 1950’s magazine - deconstructed and woven into the piece. Darren’s photography is at once stylized and raw, erotic and playful, voyeuristic and tender, an intimate look at the male form.
