CULTUREEDIT ART AUCTION #2
Kent Neffendorf
Kent is a Los Angeles based artist who has created hundreds of paintings and fiction illustrations dating from the eighties to the present. His work has been featured in numerous men's magazines including Mandate, Torso, Playguy, In Touch, Freshmen, Men and The Advocate. Beyond the fiction work, he painted pinup figures as a monthly feature in Men magazine and has created cover art for books by Felice Picano and Gordon Merrick, and illustrated the Gay Sex book. Additionally he produced a full color cartoon serial which ran in Freshmen called FRESHMEN TAILZ. He received a fine arts degree from Parsons School of Design in New York City and upon graduation was published for the first time with an illustration for Mandate magazine in 1984 which launched his career as a freelance artist. Kent's figures have a distinctive look and have been referred to as KENTMEN. Kent's goal with his work is to create idealized icons of masculinity. In his pinup work he expresses the sexuality of the male form through very traditional American iconography of sports and military figures as well as commercial images such as the Marlboro man and catalog underwear models.
