Tom of Florence
Tom of Florence is an artistic duo based in Florence, Italy, reinterpreting the tradition of Italian academic drawing through a contemporary perspective. Their works emerge from the dialogue between the Florentine Renaissance tradition and a modern exploration of identity, the male body, and queer aesthetics. Created primarily in graphite and charcoal, and occasionally supported by artificial intelligence during selected stages of visual research and experimentation, they seek to place drawing back at the heart of artistic practice, bridging classical technique with contemporary themes. Rooted in the discipline of academic draftsmanship, Tom of Florence combines anatomical precision, expressive chiaroscuro, and refined composition to investigate intimacy, desire, vulnerability, and human identity. Their practice reflects a continuous conversation between historical artistic heritage and contemporary visual culture. The duo's works have been exhibited in contemporary art exhibitions and are held in private collections across Europe and the United States.
