Reinaldo Egusquiza

Beginning his artistic endeavors with writing, the subjects in his work prompted an interest in illustration - eventually leading to a broader focus on visual art. Drawing inspiration from heraldry, myth and geography, the near-symmetric figures suggest dignity and sanctitude. The same figures are ghosts against the backdrop of an old building, a field, a face. Through collage, a strong focus on LGBTQ+ themes is broached. Subjects are obscured and marred to bring out unseen dignity and insecurity, emotion and perception, desire and despair. New representations of self are revealed through modified composition and abstraction.
