Michael Laed is an artist with a diverse practice that evolved from his roots in sustainable fashion . His portfolio now includes hand-built ceramic lamps, lighting sculptures, and tapestries. As a self-taught ceramicist, Laed specializes in crafting one-of-a-kind pieces, each infused with his personal touch and innovative spirit. Laed’s unwavering commitment to hand-craftsmanship is evident in every fiber of his work; each creation is an intimate exploration of form, color, texture and material - often featuring his own custom glazes infused with natural, found materials. Laed’s creations draw inspiration from a wide array of influences - from personal relationships and everyday experiences to his upbringing split between time with his father in California and his mother in Southern France. As an artist, Michael's journey continues to evolve, driven by his unwavering passion for exploring uncharted territories in materials and inspiration.
